I try to encode an MPEG2 movie ( with mp2 audio ) using ffmpegx.
It seems that mencoder as well as mplayer is non capable of decoding/playing the audio track.
I record the MPEG2 file using Elgato EyeTV and it plays well with VLC.
When i use ffmpeg to convert it to XviD ( using mencoder) , the avi file is generated without audio.
If i generate the avi file using the internal ffmpeg encoder i can play the file with VLC and quicktime.
Unfortunately the ffmpeg encoder is not compatible with my home DivX player ( Philips 630).
mencoder used to work for my purpose, no more than 3 month ago ( an older version ?).
any clue?
