The summary says it all - it never launches the little helper app
(the video playback window), just sits there saying "buffering"
indefinitely and doing nothing (no disk activity, no real CPU use to
mention). b7 and earlier versions all work fine.

When trying to Stop the movie or quit the app, the stop button gets
frozen in the down state, and any requests to quit are ignored (but
don't lock up the Dock or app menu). Requires force quit.
