Demuxing creating HUGE files
Status: Beta

I ran into a problem where demuxing a 3GB .mpg file
started generating the .m2v and .mp2 files that were
25GB+ and would run until the disk was full. Are
there any known bugs like an infinite loop of some
sort?
Let me know if I can provide any other information.

Same here. Using default settings. I am demuxing MPEG-1 files to convert audio to MP3 for iPod.
It creates an MP2 audio file that is "normal" sized, but the video(?) portion eats disk space until the hard drive is empty! 172 gigs at last demux!
PLEASE RESPOND.

I was able to reproduce this problem with a *broken* mpeg file. (I believe the end of the file was truncated leaving the last packet incomplete.)
It seems to be a problem in mpegOut.cxx in demuxer::ProcessProgramStream.
When it calls:
Copy(outfile, from, to);
the value of "to" is larger than FileSize, which cause Copy() to loop indefinitely.
I changed:
START_CLOCK
Copy(outfile, from, to);
STOP_CLOCK(COPY)
to:
if (to <= FileSize) {
START_CLOCK
Copy(outfile, from, to);
STOP_CLOCK(COPY)
}
so that at least it doesn't hang. But I don't know if the resulting file is good.
