[mpg123-devel] Unusual CPU usage

Equipment: HP Laptop i3 CPU M370 @2.4GHz
OS: ArchLinux x86_64   Kernel Linux 3.1.5-1-ARCH
Memory: 3GB

Problem:
I have noticed on occasion that sometimes when I run mpg123 the CPU
usage jumps up a bit to anywhere from 5 to 20%.
If I close mpg123 and then restart with exactly the same track the
problem goes away.
The problem may not happen for days and then it suddenly does it again.
I have been running some tests without any desktop running using it in
remote i.e.  mpg123 -R
I have noticed now and again that if I type SILENCE that it can cause
the sudden jump in CPU usage.
The increase in CPU usage I am referring to is NOT momentary but
permanent while mpg123 is running.

I compiled mpg123 myself to see if it made any difference but does not seem to.

I need to investigate this further and will as time allows.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this?
Any ideas anyone?
