On Ubuntu Feisty server edition for PowerPC architecture, mp3val segfaults when asked to process a file. 'mp3val -v' returns version information as expected. 'mp3val file.mp3' returns a segfault for ANY mp3 file. This is the case even for files that are valid, error-free and encoded by a recent version of LAME.
Found the problem in both the default Ubuntu Feisty package version of mp3val (0.1.4) and version 0.1.7 compiled by hand.
Testing the same files on an x86 computer using the Ubuntu default packaged version compiled for i386 does not return an error but processes the files as expected.
