To extract RAR files, I recommend using the WinRAR program. Future releases will be in zip format.
As for sample apps, they are being developed along side 0.0.2. The sample games are being used to weed out bugs and design flaws. I expect the first sample game - a basic breakout clone. will be finished very soon.
Once that is done it will provide some screens. You have to remember that this is only the very first test release. The first major release will be 0.0.5. Several sample games, docs and tutorials will be released with that version.
