John: To be able to view your movies on Windows Media Player, I suggest that you download and install the following: ffdshow: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=173941 When installing, make sure you have "VFW interface" checked in the "Select Components" screen of the installation wizard. ...then you'll need the xvid codec installed: http://download.divxmovies.com/XviD-1.1.2-01112006.exe After any reboots required.. (this is Windows after all), you'll need to configure ffdshow. To do that, run "Video Decoder Configuration" under the ffdshow group created in your Program listing. Once in the "Video Decoder Configuration", application: - select "Codecs" from the top of the list on the left - In the resulting right-hand section of displayed movie types, click on the "libavcodec" just to the right of "Other MPEG4" and select "XviD" - click "Apply", click OK You should be now able to view your movies in Windows Media Player. Note: that if you do not change the selection above to "XviD" from "libavcodec", your movie will play, but upsidedown and backwards! (or at least, that's what happens on my configuration). The other alternative, although not a good one, is to change your motion.conf file to use: ffmpeg_video_codec msmpeg4 It's not a good alternative, because the quality of the video will be crummy compared to what you get with the FMP4 encoded movies when you use "ffmpeg_video_codec mpeg4". Good luck! Jeff G. John Sutherland wrote: > Rob, > > I guess I am seeing just the static image, probably the initial keyframe.
