If you have a mask file that is 640x480, then Motion will probably segfault 
unless you remove it.  I had the same problem and went crazing trying to 
figure out what was wrong, then realized I forgot to change my mask file.  
You could also try a Motion daily snapshot to use deinterlacing if you want 
the bigger picture size. Hope this helps.
