Actually I had the heat consideration yesterday after swapping in the ‘updated’ RPi SD Card – the one using Motion 4.3.2. Used a non-contact detector from about 12’ ( 4m) away and 91°F (33°C) late afternoon – Sun not hitting the window; measured just now (8:30 a.m.) and 85°F (29°C) –currently overcast and so not ‘glaringly bright’. Minor occasional glitches (I’ll accept those!). (Another camera on a different Pi looks at a white vinyl-sided house and never a glitch.) The window (and so cameras) face East, so the heat and Sun could be suspect. The cameras are SV-USBFHD06H-BL36, which appear to be the equivalent of ELP-USBFHD06H-BL36. (I’ve forgotten how I made this conclusion.) The ELP specifications list: Working temperature -10~70℃ (storage -20~85℃) – so 14-158°F. Elevation shouldn’t be an issue, though we have joked about about climbing up here to the second floor. :) Google lists the city as 571’ – so nowhere near the approximately mile you suggested. You asked about if some of the cameras are hotter than others. There are two SV (the brand) cameras cameras in the window – about a foot apart and should be ‘twins’ as same model and purchased together. Both have glitch issues, just one much more than the other. Currently “Camera 1” is occasionally glitching while “Camera 2” is not; yesterday afternoon and evening Camera 2 was glitching like mad. No overnight boot/resets. The only change I can think of is the date Thanks for the suggestions! Barry |
