Can you tell us a couple of things to help determine what is happening? Are the versions of Motion and ffmpeg up to date? (what is the full version number of libavformat reported in the Motion log?) What is the type of camera? Multiple cameras? Are they disconnecting during the extpipe process? Does the live stream show ok or show corrupt images?
