It looks like pppconfig will not work unless the user morph is part of the "dip" group. Where do I add that user to this group. I do rialize that "morph" user it created on the fly. BTW, can I change the name of that user to somthing else like my first name "anmar" instead of morph ? Thanks Anmar |

Hello, I just tohught that for presenting, it would be nice ot have an OpenOffice MiniModule, is anyone working on something? What we also need, in my opinion is some settings application, allowing to set at least the keyboard layout. What do you think? BTW: my LUG is probably goiung to do some adaptations, as mentioned above.. Robert Ribnitz |

For Morphix to work, you need to have (at least) one of them in the /mainmod directory. Thus, you only need the Server mainmodule. The naming convention, if there is one, is of the type: MorphixMain-modulename.mod or MorphixMini-modulename.mod, depending on the type of module. This way you don't have to guess which module is what type. > 3- To work in my own module, do I need a Debian based system or I may > use a RH based (RH or Mandrake)? Doesn't really matter, as long as you have the cloop utilities. The overall design isn't that Debian-specific, you could for example have a Redhat-based mainmodule. But that's for the people who don't want to use the pre-supplied mainmodules and prefer to roll their own :) /'-'\ ( o o ) ------------oOO0--(_)--0OOo------------ Wouter Alexander de Landgraaf Student AI & CS VU Amsterdam Phone: 06-16844084 GPG: http://am.xs4all.nl/key_alex.asc WWW: www.alextreme.org & www.morphix.org .oooO ( ) Oooo. --------------\ (----( )-------------- \_) ) / (_/ |

Hello, I'm a user of Morphix. I've made some scripts on Python for my work and I'd like to try them on a LiveCD. I already RTFM but I still have some questions: 1- The CD should be recorded as ISO9660 or Jouliet? Does it matters? 2- Does the SERVER module work without the bare module? I mean, may I install just the MAIN module and SERVER without BARE module? 3- To work in my own module, do I need a Debian based system or I may use a RH based (RH or Mandrake)? That's all for now, I will keep asking after more research. -- Best regards, //=\ Sebastian Bassi - Diplomado en Ciencia y Tecnologia, UNQ //=\ \=// IT Manager Advanta Seeds - Balcarce Research Center - \=// //=\ Pro secretario ASALUP - www.asalup.org - PGP key available //=\ \=// E-mail: sb...@ge... - ICQ UIN: 3356556 - \=// http://Bioinformatica.info |

It is stated correctly in the wiki: http://am.xs4all.nl/phpwiki/index.php/ModuleMakingHowto Thus: mkisofs -R -U -V "Morphix" -P "Morphix" -cache-inodes -no-bak -pad /extraction-dir | nice -5 create_compressed_fs - 65536 > ./MorphixMainModule.mod should be correct. Klaus uses a blocksize 65536 afaik, and that was the former blocksize in 0.66/0.68 so I'm using it too. For a (very simple) script for modulebuilding see: http://am.xs4all.nl/morphix/scripts/module-builder.pl Cheers, Alex |

aha.... i guess the 0.4-1 does not use the compress tools. I was reading the old docs. OK then... I tried doing it using create_compressed_fs but it complained about the 512 multiple. I have taken the heavygui module and placed it on top of the morphix 0.4-1 base cd with the necessary modifications suggested in the README.transition. I get an error starting that morphix (module) in base is not loadable... could it be the new load.sh or where would hte error would be. in the morphix or in the boot.img file. Anmar |

Are you using the new cloop utils? Morphix 0.4-1 was build with a newer cloop that's not compatible with the 0.68 cloop. Well, it's a known bug for the 0.4-0 base module. I believe 0.4-0b and later don't have this problem. Do take a look at the mail I sent on converting mainmodules if you decide to use the 0.4-0c base module: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=3058980&forum_id=33052 Cheers, Alex |

I am attempting to build a CD with the new 4.0c Base and the BaseX Main Module, but when I boot from the CD, I get a TON of chroot error and the such. The system DOES boot and seems to be fine other than that, but I am just assuming that it is NOT a good thing. I recompressed the module with Cloop 1.0. Is there something else that i should be doing? Help please! Mark |

Hey Anmar, Well, this sure is an interesting development! The language the system uses is set at boottime, in /etc/init.d/knoppix-autoconfig in the base module. You can find this script in the CVS (sf.net/projects/morphix), and I'm willing to include any new languages to this section. for example, if you use lang=de at boottime: de) COUNTRY="de" LANG="de_DE@euro" KEYTABLE="de-latin1-nodeadkeys" XKEYBOARD="de" KDEKEYBOARD="de" CHARSET="iso8859-15" # Additional KDE Keyboards KDEKEYBOARDS="us,fr" ;; Gets activated. You can easily try to modify the default by adding the 'lang=XX' bootoption to your syslinux.cfg, for more details on this, see the wiki. Gnome2 respects these settings, so if you've added the necessary translated files it should work. You should place the .mo files in /usr/share/locale/ar/LC-MESSAGES/ , I believe... Hope this helps, ALex |

Dear Morphix: It was a nice sunny day when my community and I (www.arabeyes.org) have decided to start an Arabic Live-CD based on Morphix. We choose Morphix due to its modularity and GTK installer tool. I started the process but hit a couple of problems: 1. How to I change the default language on GNOME 2.2 to Arabic 2. Where do I plave the Arabic .po files (We have all of GNOME 2.2 arabised) to get GNOME to use them ? I am a debian user so be as technincal as possible. Kind Regards, Anmar -- www.arabeyes.org |

@morphix-team: sorry for re-posting we've got problems with the mail forwarding of gnoppix.org ---- original message follows ---- Hi, I just talked to alextreme who is the maintainer of the Morphix project. For the GNOPPIX folks: Morphix already has an installer/partitioner and sone other neat tools; everything based upon gtk2. For the Morphix folks: GNOPPIX is a linux live CD that's made to be as easy usable as possible. Alex and I were talking about these tools, because I had a look at them and I basically like them except for some things: * there's lots auf autotool generated stuff in CVS * the ui is created in c from a glade file I'll take a look at the installer this weekend to make it use libglade (this will make it easier maintainable and will remove lots of -- IMHO unneccessary -- code). For all the people reading this: Alex and I do REALLY want to work together as both projects will benefit from it: Some GNOPPIX people are very familiar with the autotools and with GNOME development. This can make the Morphix tools easier to be maintained. The Morphix people already have some tools that are working and we don't have to start from scratch with our stuff. Besides that, both projects will benefit from this tool sharing by having a wider user and developer community that can find and fix bugs.
