I did a lot of searching around and it looks like grub has issues with this chipset for most distributions. The bootloader used by the 1-4-07 Knoppix works (syslinux) and a recent Debian Etch CD works if I add the argument "pci=nomsi". So I installed Etch on the box and lilo, and I plan on having lilo boot the Morphix CD (I think this should work). If this sounds weird, it's because I need to have the OS on the CD for security and the harddrive is for data. The output of grub is simply to show the kernel chosen with the arguments, and then it hangs. Just like: http://www.mail-archive.com/bug...@gn.../msg10791.html I was looking into replacing grub with lilo on the basemod, but I couldn't really sort that out. Also, is there an authoritative page on replacing the kernel used by the basemod? Are there any special kernel configurations, or is it just a vanilla kernel? Thanks a lot!
