Hi Jamin. I was very happy to see that someone else is interested in nice chess application for GNOME/GTK with modern capabilities. I think that xboard and others are a bit out of date now and doesn't satisfies all user needs. The C#/Gtk# is also suitable for that task, I think, because the standard C is not so perfect for rapid development. Also, the C# should have a chance to show it's strange, and applications like chess game can show it. That is why I've started CSBoard project (http://freshmeat.net/projects/csboard). It's already nice project to play with gnuchess. Otherwise, the WoodPusher has it's advantages, like ICS server support. It seems that you are a much more chess specialist that I, just because I have too little experience with chess :) I think, that we can work together on fully functional project for playing chess. So if you can suggest how we can unify our attempts to get such application works fine, it would be just cool. As a start, we can import GNOME support from CSBoard, like mime-types, gnome documentation, internationalization. Shmyrev. |
