Martin, Are your friends starting monkeymsn from the console? Would it be possible for you to send me the output printed in the console up till the crash? I am also getting a GTK crash between login and the messenger appearing. Thanks, Jamie Martin Sagastume wrote: > Hello there, > > I'm trying to open monkey messenger project in mono develop, and it > opens but no "design" is available..neither it compiles =( > > Is something missing ? i want to study the code and help improving > this messenger client > > thnx > > Sry for my english, im a spanish native speaker ;) > > > P.D: Is there an actual .deb binary, i have some friends trying to > execute monkey and it close when contact list is loaded. Hi Martin, It should compile. Maybe you are missing some library? Which error do yo= u get? About the design mode, Monkey Messenger does not use it, it's coded "by hand". I started it before monodevelop had the design mode :) And to be honest, gtk is just as easy as doing html stuff, no need for design mode :) About the deb, probably and old more buggy version. Hi Martin, I am sure Thiago will reply to this thread himself. However i have never been able to open the design in mono develop or compile the code using mono-develop. I always run mono develop so only the code displays. On the second issue i build using make from the command line. There are older .deb files on the internet (i am not sure of where) but it is recommended that you install from SVN. This error you mention of Monkey Messenger terminating unexpectedly seems to be caused by the GTK library. I am still looking into it. Thiago and I have been looking into implementing the later MSN protocols (sadly I have been preoccupied with other things as of recent). Hope this helps. best wishes, Jamie Martin Sagastume wrote: > Hello there, > > I'm trying to open monkey messenger project in mono develop, and it > opens but no "design" is available..neither it compiles =( > > Is something missing ? i want to study the code and help improving > this messenger client > > thnx > > Sry for my english, im a spanish native speaker ;) > > > P.D: Is there an actual .deb binary, i have some friends trying to > execute monkey and it close when contact list is loaded. This work for me. Thanks I'm now having some problems ... - The menubar with conversation and edit only appear in the first window that its opened. - If you start a tab based chat and then you change to window mode , you can close the window with tabs but you cant close a tab I think that this second is because monkeymessenger stabilise the focus in the last window that was opened . I'm working in it but i don't know how many time I've got to implement it ... Thanks -- FINX Visitame en http://finxnif.blogspot.com |

You can do:
Globals.Configuration.Get ("/ChatWindow/windowmode", value")
where value is the initial default value
I'm not sure if this is what you wanted.. please, let me know :)
Thanks
Thiago.

My problem is that i get an error when I run the program because the entry
that I set to activate window mode ("/Chatwindow/windowmode") in the chat
isn't create.
a bit of information ...
This option is activate with a checkbox in the preference window (like show
offline contacts).
I try to set the path of this option same of show offline contacts
("/contact-list/show-offline") and it runs ... when I check the show offline
i get new chat windows in separate windows.
It isn't necessary to be god to know that the problem is that i don't know
what i have to do to create/set a default value for this the first time we
run the program / What is the method to create it .
If you can explain me what do you do this with the show offline contacts i
could create this option
Thanks

Hi, We use a plugin system where you can plug the configuration system (be it gconf, xml files or any other), so we don't use gconf directly. Instead we use IConfiguration which is an interface to gconf. You can use Globals.Configuration.Set and Globals.Configuration.Get (or something like this.. hehe) [ ]'ss On Fri, 2007-06-15 at 16:02 +0200, finx weasley wrote: > Hi > > I'm implementing the option to choose if we prefer to use tabs or > windows in the chat, but I've got a problem... > > I'm watching the source to find when are creates the gconf entries > but i can't find them. > > If someone could help me ... > > Thanks and sorry because my English > > -- > FINX > Visitame en http://finxnif.blogspot.com > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express > Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take > control of your XML. Hey Arthur, Thanks for the interest, i think it's very nice. I will be releasing a 0.1 version soon with corrections (bug fixing, removing of debug messages, ...) so you can make packages from it :) I expect to have it ready by the end of the week (Sat or Sun). Hello, According to bug #423024 [0], I'm actually packaging monkeymessenger for debian, which is already on mentors now [1]. The problem is that my Debian sponsor asked me if it were possible to do a proper stable release, as I'm using the svn repository now. My package is based on commit svn commit 189, then if this commit is considered stable, is it possible to make a snapshot ? For example a version 0.1 would be great. Hi! I've implemented multi-packet messages (as described in this document: http://siebe.bot2k3.net/docs/word/Sending%20Multi-Packet%20Messages.doc) into MSNPSharp. This makes it possible to send and receive messages with an unlimited amount of text in it. (However, if the messages get to long, the official client will crash, so don't exaggerate in the length of the messages..) Also, I've made a few fixes: the processing of a BLP-command sometimes threw an error, that is fixed now. Also a fix for the problem described on http://code.google.com/p/msnp-sharp/issues/detail?id=1&can=2&q= is provided. Kind regards, Thijs |

I've looked on how banshee does it. It has a definition file, like
Definition.cs.orig that has the variables needed. So when configure runs
it reads it and replaces the variables resulting on Definition.cs which
is used with the compilation. Seems very easy to do :)
For now only myself has access to the svn, but it will change as people
send me nice patches :)
Thanks

Sorry i answer so late to this. This is not the right way to do it
either, I already got it, you just do a
Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable ("HOME") to get the home dir. I fixed
it. However Thiago I dont seem to be able to commit to svn.
The next step however is to refer to the {prefix}/share/locales, but
this prefix should be set during ./configure, i dont know how to do
that. So please any suggestions.

I had the same bug so i looked at the code,
in MonkeyMSN.cs
string user = UnixUserInfo.GetLoginName();
string localedir = (new UnixUserInfo(user).HomeDirectory +
"/.monkeymsn/locale");
in my case the GetLoginName() function returned nothing so the user
string was empty and UnixUserInfo(user).HomeDirectory failed
i found a fix but it's not really elegant, at least it work, just change
those line by these
string path =
Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment .SpecialFolder.ApplicationData);
int lastslash = path.LastIndexOf("/");
path = path.Substring(0,lastslash);
string localedir = path + "/.monkeymsn/locale";
then rebuild
