Hello,
A new configuration option named ignore_cache_subcmds has been introduced
and will be part of the upcoming Modules 5.7 release.
This option defines a list of module sub-commands for which the module
cache is ignored. When one of the listed sub-commands is run, modulepath
directories are walked directly instead of evaluating their cache file.
This is especially useful on setups with very large cache files (e.g.,
thousands of modulefiles): for targeted sub-commands like load, evaluating
the whole cache can be slower than a direct directory walk. With this
option you can keep the cache benefits for global queries like avail, while
skipping it where it hurts performance.
Full details are available in the documentation:

Best regards,
Xavier
