patches for build system
Brought to you by:

I'm attaching some build system patches. The changes are:
- use autoconf tests to figure out the leading/trailing
underbar specifics for fortran. This should help quite
a bit with portability.
- use ${pkgdatadir} instead of ${prefix} for the
examples and docs. Just using ${prefix} is fairly rude!
You can skip patch-ad as its just the regen of
configure using autoconf. Also, there are a few
Makefile.in patches which are just the result of
re-running automake on the patched Makefile.am.
I'm still having some tcl issues on my system, but they
are unrelated to mmtl/tnt.
Thanks for making this tool available. I'm very
excited to get something like this up and running.

Dan,
I'm glad to make changes for portability. I'm the first to
admit that I'm a beginner with the autotools, so any
suggestions are certainly welcome.
But I don't see a patch uploaded to this bug report. Can
you either upload a patch file, or add a comment with your
suggested changes?
Thanks,
Bob

oops. I thought I attached the file the first time. This
time I think it made it.
