Hi, I am Tomohiro KUBOTA, who wrote both of the original text and Japanese translation. > > > Unicode経由でペーストを処理する > I think it originally was just processing of pastes, > but mlterm was changed to process also strings received > via input methods (e.g., from xcin in a Japanese locale, > or from kinput2 in a Chinese locale). So I think the > "ペースト" part is outdated. I wrote "received string" to mean "paste". Since I felt that an English word "paste" might be not understood well, I selected a bit strict word "received string". On the other hand, I am a Japanese speaker and can use any informal words to achieve clearity and ease. My intension is "paste". Should I change the English word? --- Tomohiro KUBOTA <ku...@de...> http://www.debian.or.jp/~kubota/ |

It looks like it says "Process pastes via Unicode". But in the English version it says "Process received strings via Unicode". I think it originally was just processing of pastes, but mlterm was changed to process also strings received via input methods (e.g., from xcin in a Japanese locale, or from kinput2 in a Chinese locale). So I think the "=1B$B%Z!<%9%H=1B(B" part is outdated. Regards, --=20 Ambrose LI Cheuk-Wing <a....@ie...> http://ada.dhs.org/~acli/ |

I'm on a FreeBSD system where all the textfiles are in iso-8859-1 or unicode. Is there a way to get mlterm to recognize and display both encodings? The iso encoded files get mangled beyond recognition whenever letters belonging to the extended ascii set crops up (accents, cedilles, tildes etc) when I set then encoding to utf-8. Turning the texts into unicode is alas not an option, as many of them are displayed by applications which are not unicode-compliant, and I need unicode for the command line, so setting mlterm to latin-1 is not an option. Can anyone help me out here? -- "Thinking gives you wrinkles!" Malibu Stacy, the Simpsons |

When XMODIFIERS is not set, mlterm do not activate XIM for now. In that case, only XlookupString() can be used and composing will not work. > However, if there were any methods European people don't have to think > about XMODIFIERS, it would be better. Hello, I wonder how Xft font names with hyphens (I'm thinking in particular the font "mikachan-PB") should be handled in anti-aliased font names (in aafont, etc.). fc-list(1) lists such names with a backslash, so I assume that these hyphens should be "escapable" by prefixing hyphens with backslashes. Another possibility would be to scan the font name backwards, and skip over two hyphens (the hyphen inside the encoding name, and then the hyphen separating the family name and the encoding). Either way, parse_xft_font_name() would be be able to use kik_str_sep(); it cannot handle any of the above ways. The following illustrates how the first possible way of handling this could be coded: --- ./xwindow/x_font.c.dist Sun May 19 08:21:12 2002 +++ ./xwindow/x_font.c Thu Jun 5 00:54:31 2003 @@ -381,8 +381,26 @@ * [Font Family]-[Font Encoding](:[Percentage]) */ +#if 0 if( ( *font_family = kik_str_sep( &font_name , "-")) == NULL || font_name == NULL) +#else + kik_debug_printf(KIK_DEBUG_TAG "GOT HERE, font_name=(%s)\n", font_name); + if (*font_family = font_name) { + /* It seems that XftFont format allows hyphens to be escaped */ + int i, j; + char *s = font_name; + for (i = 0, j = 0; s[i] && s[i] != '-'; i += 1, j += 1) { + if (s[i] == '\\' && s[i + 1]) { + i += 1; + } /* if */ + s[j] = s[i]; + } /* for */ + s[j] = '\0'; + font_name = s + i + 1; + } /* if */ + if (*font_family == NULL || font_name == NULL) +#endif { #ifdef DEBUG kik_warn_printf( KIK_DEBUG_TAG " illegal true type font name(%s).\n" , Regards, -- Ambrose LI Cheuk-Wing <a....@ie...> http://ada.dhs.org/~acli/ |
