Also downloaded the MKVToolNix as it suggested. The program opens, but seems to not recognize the mkv file I've tried. on Win7

I think pashin doesn't support this anymore. If MKVToolNix is newer than version 20.0.0, this wouldn't work anymore unless there will be an update (which I already waited for almost a year). Recommended to use alternatives like gMKVExtractGUI as endorsed by MKVToolNix. It's time to move on.

The program is able to display a dialog box that reports an access violation. That is the only thing that it is able to do. No help is available. The claimed function (being able to extract files from an mkv container) does not exist.

Pretty crappy, flakey, cumbersome with nonsensical cryptic messages.

Tested on file: High School of the Dead 01 Spring of the Dead (BD1080p AC3 10bit).mkv Tested on mkvtoolnix-64-bit-21.0.0 Tested on MKVExtractGUI-2 versions: 2.4.0.0 & 2.2.2.9 For version 2.4.0.0 nothing is displayed. For version 2.2.2.9 only 1 chapter is displayed. Cons: cant extract subtitles in .srt or .a** format.
