I have a lot of X10 hardware with a CM11. I also have a number of Insteon devices including the 2414U, which unfortunately doesn't seem to work with any open source HA systems. I was digging all the X10 stuff out again to create a dawn riser alarm for my wife. I have run into a number of problems which make me feel maybe I need a different controller. The CM11 works fine if it and the LM465 are next to each other. But if the CM11 is in the basement server room, the signal is not making it upstairs even when plugged directly into the wall (no surge protectors). I don't really have the money to start putting X10 passive couplers into my electrical panel. My wife does not want a computer's fan noise in her room. The 2414U would be great if I could create a Salad program to run the dawn riser alarm. I could put it in the same room, once it is programmed. Unfortunately, following the tutorial, I cannot get the HelloWorld1 program to download into the 2414U. It just keeps responding as if it were the timercoreapp. No compile errors. I can debug walkthrough the timercoreapp from the SaladIDE... But not what I want to do. The bad part is the Insteon developer forums haven't had ANY activity in over 2 years. It is almost as if it is a dead product. Is there a newer, better supported technology for HA? It would be great if it could also support X10, so I could reuse my old hardware, but if not... oh well... Thank you for any recommendations. |
