Hay Jim. I am unable to read your links because they require a user/password. Most likely this is related to the fact that due to the large amount of zombie systems sending out email on port 25 your ISP is blocking your ability to talk to ANY systems in the world on port 25. They however do allow you to talk to a specific set of mail servers on a different port for example port 587. If the article tells you to change some port from 25 to XXX and set a specific mail server to send email through then that is what is going on. MH as I understand it supports telling it what server and port look at the following configuration lines. I would think that this would be all you have to change. net_mail_account_1_server_send_port net_mail_account_1_server_send This can be done in postfix as well as other mta's I prefer postfix over sendmail for many reasons the biggest has been security others include scalability, ease of configuration and the list goes on. Lets not start an MTA war though. I have used many over the years including qmail another favorite of mine as well as XMail a very easy to manage and install MTA with GUI tools to make management very easy. Regardless of your MTA you will need to setup a "relay host" or what ever it will be called in your preferred MTA. This will force your MTA to use only the one mail server your ISP directs you to use. Normally an MTA will try to connect directly to the Mail Server that manages the email for the domain you are sending to. I am not sure if mh can use the linux 'mail' utility http://www.cleancode.org/projects/email but if it can it is probably the easiest solution. You can just configure mail.conf server and port values. JimMH wrote: > > Thanks for the replies. I am just wanting MH to send mail (and possibly > receive also). I don't need a mail server.
