Hi gang, My misterhouse server died last week, and its replacement is currently in the process of becoming a server, from a heap of spare parts. I went out today with a group of friends, and when I came home, several lights, one of which can only be activated via X10, were on. Now, I have no instances of misterhouse active, my CM11 is unplugged (from RS-232)and cooling its heels waiting for the new server, I'm pretty much not talking to the house at the moment. I live at the edge of the power grid, and we have very dirty power, and so I am assuming that something came in from the street that got translated to turn these devices on. I'm OK with that, but it did bring to mind a thought. Has anyone put together the logic that makes Misterhouse benevolent dictator of home automation? In other words, as chatter is picked up on the wire, can we make misterhouse final arbiter? If turn B2 on is picked up by my CM11, could misterhouse say, "I didn't tell you to do that, that came from somewhere else- turn B2 off." Or send me a text message that an unknown controller is sending commands or something. Is that even advisable? It seems like something that could be useful, if you have neighbors with powerline-communicating devices, or just have particulary noisy power I'm thinking. Any thoughts? -Dave Stenhouse |
