The xAP Intranet Launcher (from www.mi4.biz) will honor the pic attribute of the display schema (http://www.mi4.biz/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=9). So, you could pass it a different URL of an image that shows status if you want some more graphical way. I would suggest just trying it out.
