After re-reading my message, I think I figured it out. I was running the following, mknod --mode=a=rw /dev/usb/iplc0 c 180 255 but dmesg was picking it up at 254 so I reran the above as mknod --mode=a=rw /dev/usb/iplc0 c 180 254 and now dmesg shows it as attached and MH now sees the PLU reading X10.
