Hi Folks - I'm looking for examples and circuit diagrams about how to monitor these zone valves in my heating system. I'm going to stay away from weeder technology products. Excellent products....but I already have a box that will detect a contact closure/open and report it via SNMP which is my preferred way of monitoring. From there I will graph it with MRTG/RRD to show me when my zone vales are opening/closing. My 3 thermostats are less than 3 years old. Digital readout...temp/setback..all that. But still...they're cheap units found in any hardware store. Wiring from thermostat to the zone valve: 3 wire...only wires are used. The contacts in use are labeled W and RH. The thermostat seems to source 24VAC to the zone vales when calling for heat. I rue the day I did not specify cat5 for thermostat wiring when they built this place. I don't know much about zone valve/oil fired burner lash-ups which is what I have. Any ideas and/or circuit diagrams would be much appreciated. I need a way of closing a relay. The relay contacts would be hooked to the SNMP box. The SNMP box will not tolerate AC or DC voltages being applied to the inputs. It will sense a contact closure only. Thanks All. |
