Thanks for the response David, The code snippet was a bad example, I do have that loop contained = within a "if (state_now $mode_sleeping)" loop. I've tried removing the %, and I get a small incremental dim, however = the item's state is then set to -20 rather than a calculated value. I could write a loop to get the current state, apply the calculation, = and then set the item to the new state; but it would seem to me that this ability would be better within the X10 object itself (and way out of my programming league). Or am I missing something obvious? howard -----Original Message----- From: mis...@li... [mailto:mis...@li...] On Behalf Of = David Norwood Sent: Friday, May 12, 2006 6:50 PM To: mis...@li... Subject: Re: [mh] X10 Switchlincs and relative brightness? Try it without the %. Also, change state to state_now so it runs just = once. I'm trying to change the relative brightness of some Switchlincs, without much success. Basically, if the mode goes to sleep mode, then dim the lights 20%. I've tried the following without much success. The light brightness doesn't change, and in 'browse lights' the light status shows as -20% instead of subtracting 20% from the current value. if ( state $mode_sleeping eq 'all') { set $main_light '-20%'; } Am I missing something? ------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
