Thanks for the reply David. I have tried just momentarily shorting the screw terminals that the two wires from the console connect to and it does not cause my door to open/close, nothing happens at all. Guess I'll take the console apart this weekend and see if it's just a matter of different-sized resistances like you indicate for the lights on/off. The exact item I bought is the Genie 1/2 HP DirectLift Plus Garage Door Opener from Lowes: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=120086-51-3060 L&lpage=none Thanks for any additional insight you or anyone else might have. Subject: Re: [mh] Opening the garage door I have a Genie Excellerator, and it sounds very similar to what you have (you didn't specify what model you have). If you momentarily short the two wires, the door will go up/down. Momentarily put 180 ohms across the two wires and the lamp will toggle. I also hacked the limit sensors and door blockage sensor on this model, so I could tell if the door was open/closed/partial open and blocked. Hope this helps, David Satterfield |
