Yes you would use something like Icecast/Ices to encode the audio. Just = route your audio to the encoder. Then connect to the Icecast/Ices stream= =2E I believe you would use Alsa and then plug it to Ices. It's been a=20 couple of years sense I've done any "cast" encoding. But I know it can=20 be done and I have done it. I just having had the funds to pick up 3 of = those Squeeze boxes yet! ;-) I'm doing all the other audio outside=20 the festival stuff to my Softsqueezes now. Tying the SlimServer HTML=20 interface into MH was a snap also. I know there are some newer plugins=20 that can be made to route the linux audio to the encoder. IE. Jack,=20 LADSPA, etc...Google is your friend! I was checking Ebay for Squeeze=20 boxes, Maybe if your lucky you can pick an older V1 or V2 for the same=20 price as an Audry. I have an Audry and its in the closet for the=20 moment. I would love to see/get SoftSqeeze ported to the Audry. Damn=20 "time " there just isn't enough in the world! LOL The biggest draw back I've found is that using many of these audio /=20 encoder apps require quite a bit of CPU. At the moment I haven't been=20 able to spare my free cycles on my Linux box for this stuff. But when=20 funds are available Ill build another low power Linux box to off load=20 the low load stuff then get back into it. Are you using a Windows or Linux machine for you MH? Not sure on the=20 Windows side but I know it all can be done with Linux. I think there=20 are some WinAmp plugins / configurations that allow for the windows=20 mixer to be routed and then WinAmp could encoded and stream. One of my back end projects is to encode my "WinRadio" as a stream. =20 (encode Ham Radio audio, not the FM tuner thing). Then tying it to a=20 SlimServer will be sweet.=20 Kaleb wrote: > This seems really exciting, but I have a question. How would MH make=20 > the slimserver play a sound? I'm pulling a pair of Cat5e cables into = each room as I'm renovating, so there's a network drop. I ended up with p= utting an Audrey in 3 places so far, and that's working well.
