Hi everyone, I'm new here. I installed misterhouse a year or two ago, but never did anything with it. Got the latest copy a couple weeks ago and have gotten serious about it this time. My goals are in phases. 1) X-10 control including lights and using motion detectors to perform some tasks. 2) Interface with my HAI Omnistats. They're operating on their own right now, but eventually I'd like to be able to watch and override them with MH. 3) Talk to the Ocelot, that's on the way, to automate lights, perhaps some IR, and whatever else I think of. 4) Monitor the status of my NX-8E security panel. 5) Once I've got these up and running I may setup another system to work as a DVR and to dish up VCDs and DVDs, and move HM to it. Eventually I might try to setup MH for remote access, but right now it's on my main system and there's no way I'm opening that up to the internet. I'd like to thank Bruce for creating MH and everyone else who has contributed to it. One observation I have for anyone who reads this and hasn't gotten MH running is that they should go read Gordon Meyer's article, "Get to Know MisterHouse". The link is in the first part of the install instructions. For some reason I had missed it while browsing through all the different pieces of documentation. There's lots of information in the install instructions, but it wasn't until I found Gordon's article that I was able to accomplish more than just looking at a bunch of web screens and files. In today's digest Charles Sullivan wrote: > Some people have voiced complaints about the reliability of the > CM11A, but my experience is that most problems are related to > the software in use. In my very limited time with the CM11A, I've already experienced this first hand. When I got my CK11A kit a couple days ago, I installed the latest version of Active Home (AH, I think it's fate that they chose those 2 letters), hooked up the CM11, and tried it out on a lamp module. After playing around with the settings for a bit, I finally got it to work. However, about 10 minutes later, it stopped working. I restarted AH and it was working again. Eventually I found the test communications option and discovered that AH would stop talking to the CM11A. I finally found the options to let me stop and start communications instead of having to restart AH. Since I knew my next phase was MH, I stopped playing with AH. Last night I finally got everything right on MH and was able to turn lights on and off with a web browser. YAY!!! The good news is the communication problem seems to be AH, MH is still talking to the CM11 just fine. __________________________________________ Yahoo! DSL Something to write home about.
