There are a few issues from my perspective, 1) It's cheaper/quicker to send a text message than to send an email (from mobile to home). 2) I can set up templates on the phone for each of the most useful commands and then select the one I need and send it without any typing... 3) If the house is attacked/burgled, and the phone line is cut, or the adsl connection is down, the mobile phone connected to the MH box adds a second outgoing channel to inform me... 4) It seems pretty geeky, plus I have a spare old mobile, a PAYG sim for it and the connecting cable :) Lee -----Original Message----- From: Mark Rogers [mailto:mar...@gm...] Sent: 02 August 2004 22:33 To: mis...@li... Wouldn't it be easier to use email to control MH and keep the phone with you to send the emails and receive the responses? -- Mark On Mon, 2 Aug 2004 20:50:24 +0100, MH <mh...@va...> wrote: > Does anyone have a mobile phone (pref. a Nokia) attached to their (ideally > Windows) MH box, to send and receive SMS text messages, which allow the > remote control of MH attached equipment? > > If so, what hardware/software do you use? > |
