New VISTA BP panels have a easy solution to the problem !!! They now have a 2-way serial interface with a published protocol. Although the capabilities are still somewhat limited, you can get fault status on the first 69 zones. And you can arm and disarm a 1 partition system. Hopefully the future will bring the ability to see all the zones, plus control multiple partitions. However I have learned not to hold my breath as far as Ademco is concerned.
