Is Festival the way to go? > My personal opinion is Festival for speech and Sphinx2 for VR. Both by the same group. I found them to be the easiest to install and absolutely configurable. Problem with the configurability is that brings complexity. I'm learning to speak with Lisp. ;) I just got my laptop back from service and can resume work on my Sphinx2/proxy voice implementation. I just spent a couple hours rewriting a few pieces of code and it seems I am making quite some headway. Once I get this done, I'll recommend Sphinx2 as the way to go for VR and Linux. On my system Festival and Sphinx2 were installed with one command: "emerge festival Sphinx2" as I'm running Gentoo Linux. Very easy. On that same line, I have a .ebuild for misterhouse done now. It works if anyone wants to try it out. One command installs misterhouse. >Second, in the code/common directory there are several scripts for playing hourly >chimes. They both reference the need to download a file (BigBenSounds.zip IIRC) but >the link is no longer valid. A Google search turned up nothing. Does anyone know of >where this sound file(s) can be obtained? > Yup, link bad. Lots of people have the sounds and could probably figure out how to get them to you. I can't seem to find them right now on any of my systems. >That's all for now, but since I'm on a steep learning curve, I'm sure to have more >questions... > >Regards, >-John >Seattle, WA > How is the Emerald City? -- Sean Walker http://sean.surfmy.net/ |
