While it is not commonly advertised, the SerialPort modules have a method to return milliseconds to the test suite. The resolution is OS dependent - don't trust much better than 10-20 ms. $milliseconds = $PortObj->get_tick_count; This is a continuously updating count (and has the 49 day wraparound problem on Win32) - so it is only relevant for difference measurements.
