Sorry, Hit the reply to author button, and didn't sent this to the list ... Has anyone had any sucess with taking the voice output from viavoice, converting/formatting it, and passing it on to a voicemodem ? I'm running a linux box, with ViaVoice, and a rockwell chipset modem. ( for all you that don't do voice it's a wonderfull thing, and on a AMD K6-233 ! too response is typically less than 3 seconds from voice to speech..'I heard turn ..') It seems to me this would be a natural fit for further interactivity (yes I am using the voicemodem.pl file, and have made some minor mods ) Eventually I would like to go interactive, being able to call in, and tell it what to do.... I've tried vgetty (it gets in the way a lot !), IVRS for perl, but I'm still having problems MAKING a voice file to go to the modem. I've made some mods to vv_tts.pl, and I make a wave file (.wav) on the fly, as MH speeks. I also make a queue of all the output files. The problem is I need to convert the wav files to a format that the Rockwell modem can use as voice data input. It's not an option on this modem to jumper from the sound card to the modem, as the modem only has RJ's for the phone and line. The end use is to have MH call into my PBX and make selective pages announcing events (like someone is at the front door, garage, in the shed etc). I already have the mechanics set-up for the MH side to do the appropriate actions/announcements, make the voice.wav file I'll need, and even make the phone call (to the paging system). It all works except I keep trashing my modem by feeding it the wrong voice data. If I substitute the file with one I've generated on my WinBox for the Rockwell modem it all works flawlessly (that I can tell). But I think conversion on the fly is the way to go for the modems input. Of course there's the other side of the coin too. That's taking the modems voice data and converting it back into a format that can be fed back into VV to interact with MH (but first things first ... get the darn thing announcing !!!) Cheers Pete |
