I have been asked about migrating Minsky to github over a number of
years, and since I have more recently started using github more
extensively in other projects, I have now bowed to the inevitable.
The is now a tracking repo available at
https://github.com/highperformancecoder/minsky.
What is a tracking repo? Put simply, it is a repository that will be
merged with the actual Minsky repository on a semi-periodic
basis. Pull requests issued against it will be incorporated into the
Minsky baseline at some point.
The subversion repository on sourceforge, which was only ever a
tracking repo, has now been eliminated in favour of the github
repository. The github repository has a number of advantages over the
sourceforge respository, including:
1) The ability to fork and issue pull requests. This allows anyone to
submit contributions without first gaining authorisation to the
repository. Very useful for projects where the admin is asleep at the
wheel (not that that describe me, of course).
2) Continuous integration and superior code review tools. I will look
into these at a future date.
For now, the wiki and issue tracker will remain with
SourceForge. There is not a good enough reason to migrate this data to
github. Obviously, the use of the file release system reamins unchanged.
If you are a died in the wool subversion user, github supports a
subversion interface that allows the use of subversion tooling. But
you might want to consider moving to git anyway.
Cheers
