The only thing I had to do outside Ravel to create the attached file was to multiply "Age" by -1,000,000 in Excel in the paleo climate csv with data back to 540 million years ago.

I know you're going to tell me it's fine to use Excel sometimes, and you know I'm going to say it'd be better if we could give people yet another reason to dispense with Excel. If there was a way to derive one dimension from another, then I could have done this all in Ravel.

That said, am I missing a function in Ravel that would enable me to do that?

If not, then a distant feature could be a "transform" command to transform a dimension on import (eg, an additional row beneath Format on the import form where formulas could be applied to imported dimensions as well as data; or an add/subtract button on the form like on Godley Tables to Add a new dimension and have that based on a formula).

Not currently, but a planned feature sitting in the backlog, https://sourceforge.net/p/minsky/features/180/.

This would allow value based dimensions to be interrelated - in this case between ya (years ago) and Mya .

That said - I think this ticket will need to be backlogged for now.
