I wonder if in the future, we could have inputs around the groups, much like the plots, the issue with having variables nested on the edges on the groups is that it is adding addition variables to the equations. Just a thought.

It's a damn good thought! Russ, how feasible would it be to adapt the container for plots to that for groups? We wouldn't need four on each "Y axis" and 8 on the "X", but 4 colour-coded inputs on the Y1 and outputs on the Y2 would be excellent. It's hard to conceive of a group that would need more than 4 inputs and 4 outputs (though we could accommodate that in far distant releases). Colour coding would then overcome the hassles from the "1", "2" inputs/outputs as well.

I think the variables have to be there anyway, not just as connectors. I'll copy this conversation into a backlogged feature request for later thought.

This is possibly the right ticket to add the suggestion made on the 2-input bug: redesign the plot to have 1/2/1 inputs on the Y1/X/Y2 axes, with the Pen Styles menu item renamed "Variable Styles", and including the Variable names on a Godley-like form where the variables can be shufled to change the colours/line weight/line style settings they're attached to.
I expect this qualifies as Epic, but as we approach marketing Ravel, it's time to make some Epic improvements to the UI/visuals of the program.
