Is there a mechanism to export the data of a variable, rather than just the graphical display?

  There is a logging facility available from the file menu. Select the
  variables you want to log, the press the simulation run button.
  
  Under development (along with vector wire semantics upcoming in
  Bentham) will be the facility to export the vector value of a
  variable. But currently, that is not important for the current scalar
  variables.
