How to start the program?

It's crazy to get blocked from trying Minsky over such a basic question, but HOW DO YOU START THE PROGRAM? I've been searching through .md files and other documentation, and the most I can get is that I need to click on the icon I downloaded. Well, the file I downloaded is a .tar archive, and if I click on it the computer will unzip it, but I still can't find an executable to run. Can someone point me to instructions that don't assume the reader already has it running, which I'm sure must exist?

I also tried building the code from source, to no avail. I found a terse mention that there are prerequisite packages that must be installed first, but no clear listing of what they are or how (command line syntax) to install them.

Any help is appreciated. I'm eager to try Minsky!

You can build the code from sources (the tarball that you downloaded),
but it is not for the faint hearted. The specific details of how to do
that differ from operating system to operating system, so all that can
be offered in the "recipe" is "breadcrumbs", guidance notes that will
help someone familiar with compiling other open source packages. It is
not for the faint hearted, however. Even after doing it for more than
a decade, it still takes me half a day to get a completely fresh
computer system set up to build Minsky. For someone not so familiar,
it can take days - even if you're a professional programmer.

Instead, you can download prebuilt versions of the latest Minsky for
Windows and Mac from https://patreon.com/Ravelation , for the princely
sum of US $1 per month. The money helps defray the costs of
maintaining the Windows/Mac builds, and for most people represents a
good deal :). If you're a Linux user, check out the OpenSUSE Build
      system https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:hpcoder1/minsky .

There are also some old (now a year old) Windows and Mac builds
available in the SourceForge file release system. As time goes on I'll
update those to more recent obsolete builds. It serves as a valuable
      repository of historical built versions.
