I'm already using UTF-8 on my server, seemingly without any trouble. The reason I ask the question however, is that I ran across this reference http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=65772
to an M3U8 format. That hardly looks like any kind of official spec, but could minidlna be modified to read .m3u8 files, and might it not be a bad idea to do some sanity-checking too?

It should already work with UTF-8 characters inside either an m3u or pls playlist. There is nothing extra needed.
