Where did you get man.exe for MinGW? AFAIK, there is no officially
That said, I have succeeded in getting man-1.5m2, (as currently
used by most recent GNU/Linux distributions, I think), to build and
run under MSYS. It did take a fair bit of tinkering with the source;
it definitely will *not* build OOTB with MinGW!
I have offered to make my patched implementation available, as a
MinGW buildable source package, and Earnie has accepted. However,
before I do so, I would like some additional time to iron out a few
of the creases -- currently, it takes too much effort to build, to
be suitable for general release.
BTW, man on its own is not enough to read man pages -- you also
need a working implementation of nroff/troff and a pager. MSYS'
own implementation of less is fine for the pager, but you do need
to get and build nroff/troff -- I use GNU Troff, from
(version 1.19.1 builds OOTB with MinGW, for me anyway -- YMMV).
