That said, I will state that the page does need some overhaul > to update it for instructions on installing with mingw-get. +1 for the overhaul As the page stands now, 80% of the "Installing MSYS" section consists of detailed, point-form instructions *with links* for installing 1.0.11. In comparison, there's a small paragraph at the top which states - without mentioning a higher version number - that "all the MSYS components are now available as separate downloads managed by mingw-get (currently alpha release)", without providing a link to mingw-get, or saying what argument one needs to pass to mingw-get to install MSYS (and to the average user, "alpha version" means "buggy/unstable, keep out"). Frankly, I'd be amazed if anyone installed a version other than 1.0.11 after seeing that page. Nate.  |
