Boost.Filesystem was designed with standardization in mind. This means that careful consideration had to be given to portability across as many platforms with a C++ implementation as possible. At the time the initial version was written, it wasn't clear how to handle wide-character file names. Since the initial release there has been extensive discussion of wide character support, and it was decided some time ago to add it. Beman Dawes is working on this issue right now. Jonathan |
