The Mind project here at SourceForge has a Docs/Theory of Mind section. If we think of all the AI projects on SourceForge as a collective enterprise towards the common goal of creating an AI in our lifetimes, then we can provide "mind-help" to persons with questions about theory or code by publishing the theoretical basis of each AI project and by studying the various theories well enough to move ahead with a consensus of what should be the Standard Model in AI theories. Then either our original Mind code or ports of it into new languages may be seen and treated as implementations of the underlying theory of mind, and we may get away from simply coding in the dark towards theoretically murky and undefined goals. It is good to discuss our AI work in an archival, public form or forum, so that we may allay the fears of anyone who is afraid that we are working in secret. (We may still be working in secret, no one knows, but I myself would rather answer AI e-mails only in public.) Arthur T. Murray, coder of Mind.Forth and of same in JavaScript |
