I upgraded do XP sp2 3 days ago on my desktop computer.
I upgraded MikTex today without problems, both on the desktop with sp2 =
the laptop without.
On both, running latex, I was asked to download a package on the fly and
After that I also tried downloaded all missing packages on both and =
all was OK.
The only problem I had was with the package movie15: on several sites
downloading the 25/08 version I got a checksum problem on both PCs.
Selecting another repository I got a version dated 17/8 downloaded =
error on the desktop, from univie.ac.at.
Good: Packaged 08/17/04 20:58:41, size 34730 Bytes, 4 files.
Not good: Packaged 08/25/04 22:25:00, size 36074 Bytes, 5 files =
missing in the other package)
In the mean time, univie.ac.at seems also to have the "wrong" version of =
As I do not need this package and thus I can live without it.

Subject: [MiKTeX] SP2 causing problems with Update Wizard?
as the number of mails reporting problems with MikTeX Update Wizard in
the last days grows and Windows XP SP2 became available via Windows
Update, please can anyone confirm that both are *not* related? Has
anyone encountered problems updating MiKTeX with an older Windows
version or with Windows XP *not* updated to SP2?
The idea came up on de.comp.text.tex, still without a solution. As long
as this question isn't answered, I suggest not to run Windows Update on
Windows XP (don't mix Windows Update and MiKTeX Update Wizard).

Thanks for the positive report on SP2. That means there are
configurations that work without problems after updating Windows XP,
given the case SP2 is the reason for problems some users have. How can
someone be sure to update safely?
