Hello, we finally made it! Exactly two years after our first release on sourceforge, and after 13 months of unstable/testing packages, there is a new stable version 0.8.6 of mgo and mgo_x. Download (as always) from https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=138121 Exhausted, Hannes |

Hello, we have just released a bug-fixed unstable version of mgo and mgo_x. And if everything goes smooth, we will release a new stable version in 2-3 days celebrating mgo's second birthday. Download the 0.8.4 from https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=138121 Hannes |

In the last mail we recommended saving games locally before trying to transfer them to egoban, or to export them as SGF. Luckily, there was an easy fix: the new release saves a local backup ("AutoSave") if the user is going to perform one of these actions. In case mgo crashes (due to access restrictions or other settings of the mobile device), you can now easily reload your game from the internally saves games list. Best, Hannes |

Hello, thanks to G. Gozadinos' site www.egoban.org, mgo is now able to save games directly to this internet sevice. Once, your game is transferred, you can download it, comment on special moves, review it with your friends (or your teacher), and much more. Please visit www.egoban.org to learn about all its features. Prerequisites: 1) User account on www.egoban.org 2) Mobile device set up to use HTTP connections (e.g. via GPRS). This is not the same as setting up WAP! Just like with SGF export (mgo_x), you should probably save your game locally first, before exporting it, as you might loose the game's data if the transfer to egoban fails. Have fun! Hannes |

Hello, there is a new unstable release fixing a major bug (saved games that contained passed moves could not be loaded) and some minor ones (e.g. counting captured stones sometimes had wrong results). It is ready for download at: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=138121 And we are happy to report that we are successfully working on exporting games to the egoban.org online service (http://mgo-dev.blogspot.com/2007/03/first-successful-sgf-export-to.html). This feature will be part of the next release. Best, Hanens |

Hi, we have released the 0.8.1 featuring custom save names, i.e. the internally saved (RMS) games are no longer called slot1, slot2, ... but you give them a custom name like "Never start with Tengen". Internally saved games can be overwritten with giving them a new name at the same time. There is a warning message if you do this, but you are not asked for confirmation! The overall navigation has slightly been changed ("Back" instead of "Cancel"). Happy Hannes |

Hello, we finally managed to release a new version of mgo and mgo_x: mgo === - Accelerated goban drawing -> Faster cursor movements - New implementation of Play/Capture/Ko-check - New data format of saved games (much smaller) - Code restructuring which heavily reduced MIDlet's size - fixed RMS loading bug (did sometimes show old board instead of newly loades) mgo_x ===== - SGF import (Very basic functionality. Basically, mgo_x is able to read the files it created itself, which are very simple: no variations, no comments. Up to now, it might well choke on others.) - Enhanced directory browsing - Overwriting SGFs works: There is no confirmation question, yet. Be careful! *IMPORTANT!* One more comment on mgo_x: If mgo_x is not able to access the filesystem (due to permission settings), the MIDlet crashes. So please save the game first in non-SGF way (RMS "slots") before trying the export. User Forum ========== If you have further questions, want to tell about your experiences, or just want to get in contact with other mgo user, please use our mgo forum at http://www.freeyabb.com/phpbb/index.php?mforum=mgo. Good game! Your mgo Development Team |
