This is working as intended, but it does seem a little greedy.
So, the way it is designed is that if the page currently being viewed is in the course menu, then the second tab gets highlighted (EG: the Course Essentials tab). Otherwise it highlights the current master page (if the current master page is a tab, then the tab is highlighted).
To fix your course, I move MyWork to the top, so it would be the first tab. And then I hid the glossary page from the course menu. Now everything works as expected.
Now I did mention that it was greedy. I could check to see if the current page's master page is a tab and highlight that tab. Right now it does this except for when a page is in the course menu because the default for that is to highlight the second tab.

Sounds like a good fix.
