This is only a bug inasmuch as the filter is accessible in this version - I know this is the first time it's ever been included, and I'm very excited about it.
Unfortunately, the filter is currently non-functional (1.3.1, on Windows 7, on a quite decent and ~6mo old laptop). You should be able to replicate it simply by opening a new project, creating a new mesh layer - a cube, or a sphere, or whatever - and running the filter on it. I've fairly exhaustively tried reducing every tolerance and setting to /reductio ad absurdum/ levels, but the result is always the same. "Failure of filter: 'Shape Diameter Function'. I've also tried it on /more/ complex meshes to no result.
Looking forward to this feature - once it works!
Update: Tried it on a desktop (recent, but specs uncertain - a friend's machine), and the SDF worked all right there, though it seems a little compressed down toward the low end of the quality range (about 0-8 out of 0-26) for the models I tried it on.
At any rate - even with GPU acceleration turned off and all the options low, something about the integrated graphics on my Thinkpad W520 appears to be at fault, not the SDF itself. Annoying, but not the first time laptop graphics hardware has proven to be a hassle.
