Odette, look for mass_transfer_alpha in here: http://mesa.sourceforge.net/binary_controls_defaults.html you have four mass_transfer_* options to specify the efficiency of mass transfer, and from where mass is being lost, for instance, setting mass_transfer_beta=0 would cause all mass transferred to be lost from the system with the specific angular momentum of the accretor.
