Installation of Density Profile on Windows

I am new to VMD and am trying to install the density profile tool plugin on Windows. I followed the instructions in the README file:

1. Download the latest release and extract it in a directory of your
   choice.

2. Add the following instructions to your .vmdrc file

   lappend auto_path /WHERE/YOU/EXTRACTED/THE/TOOL
   menu main on
   

However, the tool does not appear under the extensions toolbar. Is there another way to install the plugin that might work?
