Sometimes this error appears, sometimes this error disappears. But I encode the same files, with the same settings.

Thanks for the report. Could you maybe provide more details and/or upload a sample?

    RGB24 & RGB32 are 8bit only in AviSynthPlus.
The high bit depth RGB formats are "planar" (RGB32 is "interleaved").
So for high bit depth RGB, you want to use ConvertToPlanarRGB / ConvertToPlanarRGBA

Here is the video converted to x265. https://nyaa.si/view/942034
    Again this error occurred.

Restarted megui, re-added this video for conversion with the same settings and there was no error.

    Hi there,

I have the same problem, and restarting megui does not help. I have found out that the problem is related to which indexer I use. If I use FFMS, then it reports this problem, however, if I use LSMASH, it has no issue. The problem is I recently switch to FFMS because LSMASH kept on reporting "LWLibavVideoSource: failed to get the video track" for some Amazon rips. How can we get FFMS to work correctly like LSMASH?

I have attached a log showing the two indexers at work on file "[RH] Little Witch Academia - 16 [3B5AF0C0].mkv".

    Thanks
    Andrew

A new update. Nope, turns out it is not the indexer either. If you look at the attached log you will see that I used both FFMS and LSMASH, and both gave the ConvertToRGB24 error. What is really weird is that if I try enough times... it eventually just works! That makes no sense.

Any update on this? Seems this problem also occurs on 4K / 2160p source files as well, I cannot encode any 4K files, which is kind of annoying.

I am not sure if this worked. The first thing is that it no longer reports the ConvertToRGB24 error. However, instead, it now reports a YV12 problem (see megui.jpg). I can continue so I did, and then after 11 hours it finished, and produced a corrupted output file. Firstly you can see that the colours are completely wrong (see megui2.jpg). Secondly I chose to downscale the resolution to 1920x1080 and whilst the video size is 1920x1080, megui did not resize the video, but instead simply chopped the first quarter of the 3840x2160 original resolution for the new video (see megui3.jpg).

Good to know that is fixes the error mentioned in this bug report.

The wrong encoding is sadly to be expected as avs2x26x cannot deal with > 8 bit sources properly and therefore you do have these encoding issues. I will have a look what can be done there.

So I can ignore the YV12 problem? Otherwise, thanks.

I have actually realised your comment is a bit... odd. The reason I say that is that because I have actually used your logs to determine how to call avs4x26x, and found out the executable accepts an MKV file as input. So I simply called avs4x26x directly passing in the MKV file directly as input, and it output the encoded video perfectly fine.

Unfortunately this method does not allow me to resize a file (still haven't figured how to do that from the command line) so I cannot reencode 2160p, but it works great on anime if I just want the same resolution.

The problem is avs4x26x converts the video when AVS is used as input. That does not happen when MKV as input is used (btw. then you can also directly use it as input source - for x264 at least, not sure about x265). Bottom line is that avs4x26x cannot be used when the avs file has more than 8 bit.

That makes sense. A workaround would be great as a lot of UHD video is coming out, and a lot of anime is encoded as 10bit. Until then, perhaps a check and return an error if the source is not 8bit would help prevent us wasting our time doing an encode that won't work? (Already did that :)

Please try 2858. It is still not perfect but as I have switched from avs4x26x to ffmpeg at least for me it seems to work now.

Ok, tried it on a 10bit anime and a 4K video, and both seem to have come out fine. So looks good, thanks :)
